There is an undocumented feature of DOS called TRUENAME. It returns the real name of a file or directory looking past such things as drive mappings and Assigned or Substituted drives. On local drives you get the drive and path where the file really is. On networks you get server and volume information where the server name starts with a '\\'.
Example:
TrueName ('H:') ;returns \\TYME\SYS\HOME\MARC
